Brief update: health

Currently I am:

  • exhausted

  • have coldsores

  • have back pain

  • find lunchbreaks are a novelty

  • starting work closer to my usual time/finishing nearly on-time, but all this now means is that I'm actually getting further behind in my workload
Anyone think that my job needs to be made permanently funded and that we need more staff?

You're not permanently funded? How long have you been in that post? Watch them hire two 'friends' to replace you. Oh.

That sounds completely rubbish. All sympathy.

Technically as this is my 5th year of employment (and yes it has been 'continuous' as in rolled on the end of each contract) I am actually formally permanent. However, in this instance it means 'permanent as long as we can find the specific bit of money to fund your post'. Otherwise it's a case of 'is there any reasonable alternatives within the institution' or redundancy.

I especially like the nonsense of posts where there is insufficient money to keep it on but it will cost them to pay the current employee off AND would mean they couldn't set up anything too similar too soon after as this would disqualify the purpose of the redundancy...

PS my coldsore now looks like I've been punched in the mouth. I am therefore currently looking ESPECIALLY attractive. Good job there's another year before DT at the RSC...
