I'd seen a student of mine earlier this week who is graduating today: she was really appreciating the similarity to her home climate and yet here we are on her big day and its dull and overcast. Similarly on my PhD grad day we'd had a week of glorious sun and promptly on my day it BUCKETED with rain. Good job as part of my outfit I'd purchased a decent looking umbrella. It was still too hot to be wearing a heavy gown though...
Chatting to Billy earlier, he observed that, while it's too hot here, Edinburgh looks just about right. He paused, and then shot me a dark look.
In response, I pointed out that I don't head north of the border for another week and a half. With my luck, I'll suffer through the worst of the heat-wave and then leave just as it's becoming bearable.
Almost as if your tunnel out of colditz is within two feet of finishing, and then the War is declared over!
A somewhat over-dramatic alanogy, but that's me...

That there thing in the sky is a bastard. Four hours at Farnborough Air Show yesterday, smothered in factor 20, and I'm still burned to a frazzle.
Ouch. Ouch ouch ouch ouch ouch.
Doubt you'd have the same problem today!

That made me laugh a LOT, thanks for the heads up Lisa.

I approve of over-dramatic analogies!
