Fargo

Ah, as Norm remembers, what a great film Fargo is; certainly a stand-out from the Coen's catalogue. The Big Lebowski, as much as I now love it, didn't have the same immediate hit on me as Fargo. But then Fargo does have such a perfect quality to its narrative and characters.

Note to Norm: sadly, I think you'll see a drastic tailing off in their later output. Sorry, but true.

Fargo is wonderful. Best film of the 90s? I don't like it when people say things like that... make a Top 20 and let it be. How can you really compare Se7en, Fargo and All About My Mother?

Anyway - I may have said this before, but it always amuses me, so I'll say it again - I like The Big Lebowski too. However, as someone at uni once pointed out to me it is perhaps the most pointless film ever made. The only structuring logic I can find behind it is the aim to make a film noir where the principal colour is green. A film vert if you will. Nothing else makes sense.

And Fargo's main colour (?) seemed to be white - all that snow and empty fields and frozen lake and cold cold cold.
Well, anyway, it was 105f (41c) in Fargo yesterday. I hope the snow melted.
