Don't ya know Time-Travel is all the rage...

This news dated 3 Feb, found via the usual reliable source (5 Feb), is both thrilling and disturbing.

Thrilling, 'cos, well... you know, I love my Scottish boys and this one had me first (that isn't meant to be... oh heck, what I mean is... I liked him first). Anyway, it is a little thrilling because it's like some weird kind of time-looping overlap between him and the current DW. And I love to see good people getting work.

But it is also deeply disturbing because I hate that TV has to jump the bandwagon, mostly because such stuff ends up being second-rate (and lord knows neither deserves that). Part of me just wants to scream "NOOOO!!!!" and plead waiting for something else, better, more deserving to come along.

Will I watch it if this goes ahead as discussed in the Mirror? 'Course I bloody well will!

Could be a winner...could be dire... interesting mind.

Does fit in with the current TV dictum of "anything you can do, we can do too with a slightly different name"

It's like one of the indies I've spoken to says: "ITV only ever follows the market. It's impossible to pitch them original ideas."

If you're feeling very geeky, I'd point out that dinosaurs appearing in London was very much the plot of the Jon Pertwee Doctor Who story "Invasion of the Dinosaurs", which was designed to show off the then cutting edge technology of colour separation overlay. It was bad. Sounds like this is the same thing, 33 years later. Sigh.

Exciting news! But really, getting a blonde popster in as a sidekick?! It'll never work... ;)

Let's see. That said, few sci-fi programmes on British TV have lasted (Many like Crime Traveller lasted for just one season), so let's just see what happens

Hannah from S-club as a "feisty zoologist"? How old is she, 21? A highly qualified and experienced zoologist then, I presume.

She could have completed a degree... depending on her birthday...

Presumably she attended the advanced science school that Denise Richards and Elisabeth Shue went to for 'The World is Not Enough' and 'The Saint' respectively. Or maybe it's Doogie Howser, MD, but with zoology instead?

Makes you wonder though: is there going to be an excessive need for zoologists in a time travel team? "Who's that? Mary Queen of Scots?" "Don't know. But she's definitely a mammal."
