Weekend Reading

Over the weekend I have read:

All VERY enjoyable. Dark. Darker. Violent with a serious dose of the funnies.

Brilliant stuff.

  1. Dammit,
    You like Brookmyre too?

I'm back in Notts after Saturday for a couple of weeks (I hope). We should go and have that drink!

  2. Hurrah! Hey Sarah! Howya doing?!

Yes, we should sneak that drink in.

And yes, definitely a Brookmyre fan - sheesh, talk about having stuff in common!

I loved Sacred Art. Apparently Brookmyre wants to revisit Zal and Angel X at some point.

And if you don't know the Sensational Alex Havey Band, search YouTube for a clip of them doing Faith Healer. And then imagine that bank robbery.

  4. Ah Stu, you are a man with taste - and yes, I am familiar with the wonderful Sensational Alex Harvey Band - though I will watch the recommended clip as well (it was playing in my head when I read it!)

  5. Some seriosly good shit there, Lisa. I like Block's Hit Man series, with the last one - Hit Parade - making me laugh out loud.
As for Rankin and Brookmyre? Two brilliant writers in very different ways.

  6. Am still working my way through the Scudder series presently - and given how prolific Block is I could be some time catching all his characters up!

But I'll try and check out a Hit Man episode on your reccy.

And yeah, you're darn right about Rankin and Brookmyre.

  7. Brookmyre's books are always very enjoyable. There's a new Parlabane just out - Attack of the Unsinkable Rubber Ducks. Must get it
